The First Grade teaching team has worked hard to match our rules to the report card rules so our classroom and grade level are consistent school wide.  We will practice going over these rules at first, and enforce consequences as of August 20, 2007.  We strongly believe in building a strong bond within our classroom based on responsibility and love.  We will always strive to teach and model good behavior.  Ultimately, we want the children to mature in a nurturing and fair environment.  Every teacher may use different incentives, but listed below are the basic guidelines.

Consequences:

Teachers will have discipline charts posted on a wall or board with pockets for use with a ticket system.  As rules are broken, tickets are pulled, and consequences such as time out or extra work are given.  When 1 ticket is pulled a warning or stright face is placed in their daily folder.  After 2 tickets are pulled a student will earn a demerit or the equivalent of a sad face in their daily folder.  Parents are to sign the folders every day to make sure we all stay on track. 

Daily Demerits will result in (Teachers discretion):

              a.   isolation

              b.  extra work

              c.  loss of free time

3 Demerits will result in a "S" in citizenship and a phone conference with parent(s).  This will be the first official write-up on a school discipline referral form.

5  Demerits will result in a "N" in citizenship and parent conference.

6  Demerits will result in a second discipline referral form.  Parents will be notified by note or phone.

7  Demerits will result in a "U" in citizenship.

1-2 Demerits = G

3-4 Demerits = S

5-6 Demerits = N

7+ Demerits = U

3 warnings / straight faces = 1 Demerit
